Browser or client? Both!
Software can be operated via a browser or client programs. uTraxx enables both options. Users benefit from the hybrid model.
The special thing about web-based software is that no software needs to be installed and run on local computers. Users can access the software entirely in a web browser, without installation, regardless of the platform and from any location. At first glance, this looks very modern and is suitable for use on various devices such as tablets or smartphones.
Time-consuming data transfer
At second glance, certain limitations of web-based applications become apparent. For them to work, large amounts of data must be transferred via a network connection. Speed and performance therefore depend on the quality of the internet connection. In addition, the data must be converted for transmission and then converted back by the browser, which has a negative impact on response times.
Integration of apps
Use via client, on the other hand, runs much more smoothly, allowing even complex applications to be handled quickly and reliably. And unlike with a browser, it is possible to seamlessly integrate local programs such as Outlook or a telephone system. Mail services, calendars, and programs such as Word and Excel can thus be used directly from the client. Other apps or hardware functions can also be connected without any problems.
Fast access via browser
However, there are situations in which the web-based application is advantageous. Field staff who need to use their tablet or laptop at a customer's site to obtain information about the current status of an order or view customer files can access the system quickly and easily via the browser. Production staff who transmit order-related information to the ERP system also work more flexibly via the browser than via the client.
The customer decides
Whether a browser or client is more suitable depends on the requirements. When deciding on new, modern software, it is important that it is flexible and supports both types of access. The uTraxx solution leaves it up to the customer to decide whether they want to access it via the web or via a client, or whether they want to use both application options. Companies can set themselves up according to their requirements so that the desired apps are operated from the desktop and other applications run on various devices and via the browser. With its hybrid solution, uTraxx combines the advantages of client and web applications.
