The uTraxx PDF calculator does almost everything automatically – in a matter of seconds. Starting with a PDF, it recognizes the format, size, color scheme, etc., and then searches for the most cost-effective production method. The user can choose the suggested optimal option or override the system and click on a different production method. In either case, the PDF calculator delivers production-ready impositions to the prepress stage via JDF.
Further development of the system
The ERP system developed by uTraxx has already been using artificial intelligence to calculate various production variants and produce fully automated impositions. With this further development, almost all input steps are now eliminated. Whether it's a leaflet, poster, or brochure, with or without a cover, the system recognizes the folding pattern itself. At most, the desired paper type still needs to be selected. This reduces the processing time to a few seconds.
Order confirmation at the click of a button
Finally, the PDF calculator compiles the materials and machines involved in the pricing process and the resulting costs. Including operating costs and surcharges, this results in the suggested sales price. When the user clicks on
OK, the system generates the order confirmation for the customer. It couldn't be easier to save costs.
