Brochures, prospectuses, flyers, books, cards, and letters for private invitations or business mailings – the offering of Printmedien Ennetsee AG covers all the classic print products. What customers particularly appreciate about the print shop in Hünenberg, in the Swiss canton of Zug, is the personal consultation, says owner Roman Nussbaumer – for example, when it comes to layout, format, or material choices. Special requests are also accommodated, sometimes in cooperation with partner printing companies. Printing is done in top quality, and upon request, climate-neutral and on recycled materials. The company also handles mailing distribution when needed. «We want happy customers,» says Nussbaumer.

Roman Nussbaumer took over the company with six employees at the beginning of 2021 from his father, Armin Nussbaumer. The former Druckerei Ennetsee, founded in 1991, has since evolved into a modern media business. The machinery was upgraded and networked, workflows were accelerated, and production times significantly reduced. Whereas printing was once done using offset, it is now performed digitally and via inkjet.

Roman Nussbaumer is happy to show visitors the newly acquired varioPrint iX and the connected Touchline finishing line, which creases, perforates, cuts, and folds. Products can also be embossed, die-cut, or laminated.

The background processes – machine control and job tickets for staff – have been managed since 2020 by software from uTraxx AG, also based in the canton of Zug. «Upgrading the old solution would have cost as much as switching to a completely new, state-of-the-art system,» says Roman Nussbaumer.

Early on, Ennetsee specialised in short-run jobs – books are printed on demand, starting from a single copy. “Large print runs are no longer the key factor in pricing,” says owner Roman Nussbaumer. What matters more is the ability to update and deliver quickly. Short runs also reduce the need for storage space for print materials.

Ennetsee calculates job costs automatically using the uTraxx ERP system, based on product group, colour specification, and quantity – not on a fixed hourly rate. “For short runs, it works very well at the click of a button. For longer runs, we had to adjust some of the parameters in the background,” says Nussbaumer. uTraxx trains customers to manage and adapt the pricing parameters themselves as needed.

Trained typesetter Roman Nussbaumer is particularly enthusiastic about the potential of personalised print products – from mailings and notepads to brochures. However, this requires properly prepared data from the customer, and Swiss clients tend to be somewhat cautious in this regard. Yet personalisation offers “fantastic opportunities” for targeted marketing. Printmedien Ennetsee is fully ready for it – as is the uTraxx ERP system, with its integrated webshop.
