User Report Rindt Druck

Rindt Druck implemented uTraxx because it allows for a very high degree of automation, while also enabling independent customisation as needed.

«What mattered most to us was the system’s flexibility»

«It had to happen quickly,» recalls Sebastian Jerabeck, owner and managing director of Rindt Druck in Fulda. Due to major dissatisfaction with the previous system, the switch had to be made as fast as possible. After deciding on uTraxx, the system went live just six months later, in October 2021.

«The planning, implementation, and testing phase was very short,» says Jerabeck. He and his team were heavily involved, especially during the setup and launch phase, actively shaping a solution tailored to the needs of the print shop.

Extensive In-House Development

«We were determined to make our own adjustments,» emphasises Sebastian Jerabeck. The flexibility offered by uTraxx was the key factor in the purchase decision. Costing and fast-entry processes were built independently based on uTraxx’s standard templates. The user interfaces were also completely redesigned.

«We wanted something modern and fresh,» says Sören Plur, who is responsible for development at Rindt Druck. Ensuring that the look and feel matched the company was important – both for customers and for staff.

Customer-Oriented Value-Added Print Shop

Specialising in sheet-fed and digital printing, Rindt Druck produces books, catalogues, and brochures, and has also established packaging printing as an important second pillar. The company serves more than 2,000 clients from a wide range of industries, including banking, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and finance.

Their offering goes far beyond print fulfilment. Rindt sees itself as a «value-added print shop» and a «technically creative problem solver» – producing jobs that others might turn down. In addition to standard products, runs, and formats, they also manufacture specialised and non-standard formats. Starting from the customer’s requirements, the print experts at Rindt determine the best material and format, and take care of finishing, efficiency, and pricing.

Enormous savings potential

Behind the scenes, the uTraxx software ensures automated job processing. With the help of artificial intelligence, the system calculates independently, determines the most cost-effective production route, and generates optimal imposition layouts. “The speed at which we handle jobs is extremely high, and the savings potential is enormous,” says Sebastian Jerabeck. However, the savings achieved through the switch to uTraxx have almost been offset by the drastic transformation the industry is undergoing. “There’s a strong shift toward ultra-short runs, which means that even with roughly the same number of printed sheets, we now need more staff to process the jobs.” In a next step, machine integration via JDF is planned to further increase automation. Standard jobs are expected to be handled fully automatically, relieving the prepress team. “With uTraxx, we’ll be able to take our performance to the next level,” says Jerabeck.

Collaborative partnership

The initially rushed and somewhat bumpy start phase, which had caused problems especially in warehouse management, is now in the past. In hindsight, managing director Jerabeck says they probably should have taken more time – but ultimately, they found a solution together and are now glad they introduced uTraxx. He describes the collaboration with the software provider’s team as highly collaborative: “We learn together, support each other, and grow together.”
